We’ve all done it. One late-night quiz and suddenly you’re convinced you’re a Cool Summer. But how accurate are those online tests, really?
Spoiler: They’re mostly vibes.
Online color season quizzes are fun and flashy, but they often ask you to do something kind of impossible: be objective about your own coloring. You’re supposed to know your undertone (warm or cool?), assess your contrast level (high or low?), and maybe even tell the difference between ivory and cream under your bathroom lighting.
Most people can’t do that even makeup artists second-guess themselves sometimes.
Here’s where things get tricky:
-
Lighting plays tricks. Indoor, outdoor, yellow bulbs, overcast days. Your features can look completely different in every one.
 -
Hair dye can throw it off. Are you evaluating your natural hair? Your dyed hair? That in-between root situation?
 -
We all have color bias. Maybe you want to be a Winter because jewel tones are fun. Or you’ve been told you “look good in black” your whole life. Doesn’t make it true.
 -
You can't see your own face the way others do. It’s like trying to proofread your own writing—your brain skips right past the details that matter.

That’s why our analysis is done by a real person (hi, I’m Jill), who looks closely at your selfies to figure out what’s really working for you. We look at things like skin undertone, eye depth, contrast, and overall harmony.
