The Glow Guide

What Is a Color Season, Really?

What Is a Color Season, Really?

You’ve seen the TikToks. You’ve heard your friend say she’s a “True Summer.” But what is a color season?

Seasonal color analysis is a way of figuring out which colors actually flatter your skin tone, hair, and eyes. The idea is that everyone has a natural palette. And when you wear colors that match it, you look more alive, fresh, and glow-y. When you don’t? Washed out, tired, or like your clothes are wearing you.

There are four main seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Each of those is broken down into three subcategories (like Light Spring or Deep Winter) to get even more specific.

But how do we figure out your season? Here’s what we look at:

1. Skin Undertone
This is the biggest clue. You might have warm, cool, or neutral undertones. They don’t always match your surface skin tone. We look for signs in your natural coloring and the way your skin reacts to different colors.

2. Contrast Level
This is about how much difference there is between your hair, skin, and eye color. High contrast (like fair skin and dark hair) might point toward Winter seasons. Low contrast (like light skin and light hair) could indicate Spring or Summer.

3. Eye Color
Your eyes carry tons of detail and warmth (or coolness) that help guide season placement. Soft gray-blue eyes? Might be Summer. Amber flecks in hazel eyes? Could be Autumn.

4. Hair Color
Whether natural or close to natural, your hair helps us read depth and warmth. We factor in tone and richness, not just whether it’s "blonde" or "brown."

5. Overall Vibe (a.k.a. Harmony)
We step back and look at the whole picture. What colors make you look radiant vs. washed out? What palette brings out your natural glow?

What makes our approach different? Instead of a $300 in-person session, we do it all online. You send us your selfies and some info, and we do the rest. It’s analyzed by a real human (hi!), and it comes with a personalized palette and styling tips.

So yes, you do have a color season. And we can’t wait to help you find it.
